Qualifying as a Signalling Boy in August of the same year, he had served aboard the battleship Superb, and the cruisers Cardiff and Ceres, before the War’s end. The renewal of hostilities found him serving ashore as an Able Seaman, but he went on to witness active service in the destroyers Hurricane and Lamberton prior to being discharged in September 1945.
