Joseph Harris was born in and enlisted atStranton, West Hartlepool. Serving as Private in the 9th battalion West Yorkshire Regiment, he was killed in action in Gallipoli, 9.8.1915 aged 24 years. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial.
