The mounted group of five miniature dress medals attributed to Lieutenant-Colonel A. Dibley, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, East & West Africa, 1 clasp, 1898; Queen’s South Africa, 2 clasps, Talana, Def. of Ladysmith; 1914-15 Star; British War and Victory Medals, mounted as worn, some contact marks, nearly very fine and better (5) £25-35

Athelstan Dibley entered the Army as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers in 1889 and attained the rank of Captain in 1898. Serving in West Africa during 1897-98, he served in the expedition to Lapai and Argeyah. With the regiment in the Boer War, he was dangerously wounded at Dundee, 20.10.1899, and taken prisoner. For his services he was mentioned in despatches. Promoted Major in 1908.
