Presentation Document, in glazed frame, 39 x 32.6cm., hand painted, of an intricate floral design, emblazoned with the badge of the 5th Volunteer Battalion Cheshire Regiment and bearing two inset pencil sketches of soldiers at war and at peace and inscribed, ‘Presented to Colour Sergeant Walter Agnew Pickford, Vth Volunteer Battalion Cheshire Regiment, by his fellow Non Commissioned Officers on his Retirement as a mark of Esteem and Respect and as a Memento of the many happy hours of duty and pleasure spent together during his Long and Exemplary Service of Thirty Three Years in the above Corps. Signed on behalf of the subscribers, Alfred Jeffs, Sergt. Major, 5 V.B.Cs. Regt’, dated ‘Congleton 6th Novr. 1897’, designed and illuminated by Charles Wood, Heaton Park, Manchester, excellent condition £100-140
