Siege of Beaconsfield, 14 October 1899 - 15 February 1900, ‘Children’s Medal presented by the Town Council 1900’, white metal, double brass ring suspension, slight corrosion, very fine and scarce £60-80

The small town of Beaconsfield lies about a mile south-east of Kimberley. Much to the indignation of the inhabitants, Kekewich originally excluded the town from his plans for the defence, but, faced by so strong a protest from its inhabitants, he was forced to provide for the defence of that place, though independently of the main defensive enclosure.

Parents had to fill in an application form to obtain the Medal for their children and the majority of awards were presented at a special ceremony in late 1900.
