Private Thomas Bernard Byrne, who was from Clonskeagh in Co. Dublin, died on 1 August 1916, while serving with the 9th Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers. By that date a 21 year old Corporal, it is probable he succumbed to wounds at 33rd Casualty Station, Bethune, where he is buried in the local town cemetery.
