Waterloo 1815 (Ensign Gustar Best, 1st Light Batt. K.G.L.) fitted with original steel clip and ring suspension, edge bruising and contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine £1600-1800

Ensign Gustavus Best was severely wounded at Quatre-Bras on 16 June 1815, the only casualty amongst the officers of the 1st Light Battalion on this day. He had previously served in the campaign in Northern Germany in 1813-14, and the campaign in the Netherlands in 1814. After Waterloo he was promoted Captain by Brevet and received the Hannoverian Pension, residing in Hannover.
