Fife Mounted Rifles Other Ranks Helmet c. 1870, the black patent leather skull complete with all regimental pattern fittings in white metal and brass, falling white horse hair plume with thistle pattern holder, quilted maroon silk lining, the frontal plate features the Thane of Fife on a brass cross and in turn on a four pointed white metal star, on the base point of the star ‘1X’ motto scroll below ‘Pro Aris Et Focis’ and central ‘FMR’ in brass, no chin chain, the black skull with surface crazing overall and the lining part perished £200-£300
