The Cheshire Regiment, 4th Volunteer Battalion Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1883-1901, a fine quality example the blue cloth skull complete with all silver plated fittings, the frontal plate of QVC star backplate with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black velvet the Prince of Wales’s badge set within an eight pointed star, double scroll below ‘The Cheshire Regiment’ ‘ 4th Volunteer Battalion’, buff leather sweatband with attached brown silk lining, the plate is original to the helmet, the central star and title scrolls appear to be of white metal, the chin chain lining practically detached otherwise in very good condition £500-600
