Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (1302 - Pte. - John Clarke Army Service Corps) ‘Army’ officially re-impressed, very fine £80-£100

John Clarke was born in 1837 in the Parish of Castlebar, County Mayo, and attested there for the Army Service Corps on 1 May 1854, a butcher by trade. He served abroad in New Zealand for 4 years 1 month and when discharged at Aldershot on 21 June 1877, was ‘in possession of five good conduct badges, the New Zealand War Medal and Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct with Gratuity of £5.’ Sold with copied discharge papers.
