Pair: Private R. H. Bell, 2nd South African Infantry, who died of wounds received at Delville Wood, 19 July 1916

British War and Bilingual Victory Medals (Pte. R. H. Bell. 2nd. S.A.I.) both in named card boxes of issue; Memorial Plaque (Richard Harold Bell) the last pierced at 12 o’clock, the medals nearly extremely fine; the Plaque polished, therefore nearly very fine (3) £100-£140

Richard Harold Bell was born in Bramley, Yorkshire, and was employed as a Station Foreman on the South African Railways. He attested for the South African Overseas Expeditionary Force at Potchefstroom on 3 September 1915, and served with the 2nd South African Infantry on the Western Front from 20 April 1916. He died on 19 July 1916, from wounds received at the Battle of Delville Wood, and having no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
