Herbert Edward Hallam attested for the Leicestershire Regiment and served with the 8th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 29 July 1915. He was discharged on 14 January 1919.

William Smith attested for the Leicestershire Regiment on 5 September 1914, and served with the 9th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 29 July 1915. He was wounded in June 1918, being discharged on account of wounds on 22 January 1919, and was awarded a Silver War Badge.

Edward George Thomas Starkey was born in Carlton Ashby, Leicestershire, in 1895 and attested for the Leicestershire Regiment at Ashby de la Zouche on 15 August 1914. He served with the 6th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 29 July 1915, and suffered malaria, shell shock, and was wounded in action on 14 March 1917, suffering a gun shot wound to the right elbow that caused a compound fracture. He transferred to Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 21 March 1919.
