George Stephen Hardy was born in Heswell, Cheshire, and attested for the Royal Garrison Artillery at Liverpool. He served with the 60th Siege Battery during the Great War on the Western Front, and died on 26 October 1918. He is buried in Etretat Churchyard Extension, Seine-Maritime, France.
