Three: Second Lieutenant H. C. N. Daniell, Hertfordshire Yeomanry

1914-15 Star (2. Lieut. H. C. N. Daniell. Herts. Yeo.); British War and Victory Medals (2. Lieut. H. C. N. Daniell.) mounted as worn; together with a Safe Driving Competition 5 Years Drivers Award Medal, silvered and enamel, with top ‘1953’ riband bar, and additional award bars for 1954, 1955, and 1957, unnamed, nearly extremely fine (4) £140-£180

Henry Charles Nugent Daniell was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Hertfordshire Yeomanry, and served with the 1st Battalion during the Great War in the Egypt theatre of War from September 1914. The Battalion subsequently proceeded to Gallipoli in 1915, and then to the Western Front in March 1916. He is shown in the 1918 Army List as having been promoted Lieutenant (employed Ministry of Munitions) on 1 June 1916, and his Medal Index Card lists his final rank as Captain- presumably he was wounded at some stage, possibly in Gallipoli, and being no longer fit for the front was confined to a desk job in the U.K. for the rest of the War.
