Thomas Gibbs was born in Eastbourne, Sussex, and attested there for the Royal Field Artillery. He served with 117th Brigade, R.F.A. during the Great War on the Western Front, and died of wounds on 9 September 1918. He is buried in Peronne Communal Cemetery Extension, France.
