Four: Private J. Fuller, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, who was killed in action on the Western Front, 21 March 1916

War: R.); British War and Victory Medals (9634 Pte. J. Fuller. R. War. R.) nearly extremely fine (4) £240-£280

John Fuller was born in Saltley, Birmingham, in 1883 and attested for the Royal Warwickshire Regiment at Warwick. He served with the 1st Battalion in India during operations on the North West Frontier in 1908, and during the Great War on the Western Front from 19 September 1914. He was killed in action on 21 March 1916, the Battalion War Diary for that day reading:
‘Fine morning, Battalion prepares to move to trenches to relieve the 2nd Dublin Fusiliers. Companies move off in order D, A, C. D Company march at 5: 00 p.m. Enemy shelled village with shrapnel and common shell in afternoon. 1 other rank killed and 10 other ranks wounded. Relief completed at 7.30 p.m. No casualties during relief. Trenches occupied fronting Monchy.’

Fuller is buried in Beinvilliers Military Ceremony, France.
