Three: Sergeant W. G. Hodnett, 2nd South African Infantry, late Natal Royal Regiment, who was killed in action on the Western Front, 12 October 1916

William George Hodnett was born in Pinetown, Natal, and attested for the South African Overseas Expeditionary Force at Potchefstroom on 5 October 1915. Advanced Sergeant on 29 December 1915, he served with the 2nd South African Infantry during the Great War on the Western Front from 27 July 1916, and was killed in action on 12 October of that year. He is buried in Warlencourt British Cemetery, France.
