Frederick Daniels was born in Hanley, Staffordshire, and attested for the Grenadier Guards at London in January 1892. He served with the 3rd Battalion in the Second Boer War, October 1899 - July 1902. Daniels was discharged 5 January 1904, having served 11 years and 70 days with the Colours.
