Pair: Piper J. Clark, Scots Guards

Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, no clasp (5031. Pte. J. Clark, 1/Scot...); Khedive’s Star 1882, reverse impressed ‘S. Gds. 5031’, heavy pitting and contact marks, with naming partially obscured, therefore fair (2) £140-£180

John Clark was born in Dalziel, near Motherwell, Lanarkshire, in 1861, and attested for the Scots Guards at Glasgow on 18 March 1880. He served with the Regiment in Egypt from 30 July to 13 November 1882, and was appointed a Piper on 13 September 1884. He transferred to the Army Reserve on 18 March 1886, and was discharged on 17 March 1892, after 12 years’ service.
