Adolf Kertzscher served as a Corporal in the Luftwaffe, and at the time of his award was serving as an Air Gunner with the 1st Hindenburg Combat Squadron in Northern Russia. His Bestowal Document is signed by his Commanding Officer, Major Werner Dahlke, who was awarded the German Cross in Gold in April 1943, and the Goblet of Honour in September 1943.
