Albert Knowles was born in Manchester and attested for the Lancashire Fusiliers at Salford, Lancashire. He served with the 1st/7th Battalion during the Great War in the Gallipoli theatre of War, and died of wounds on 5 June 1915. He has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey.

Fred Lees was born in Hanley, Staffordshire, and attested for the Lancashire Fusiliers at Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action on 12 October 1916. He is buried in the A.I.F. Burial Ground, Flers, Somme, France.
