Thomas William Owen attested for the Royal Engineers at Blaenau-Festiniog, and served during the Great War on the Western Front from 29 September 1915. He was awarded the Military Medal whilst serving with the 183rd Tunnelling Company, most likely for gallantry during the latter half of 1918, when the Company was involved in digging and wiring trenches from Reninghelst to St. Omer. He transferred to Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 13 February 1919.
