A Great War ‘Western Front’ M.C. group of five awarded to Captain W. H. Williamson, Royal Field Artillery

Military Cross, G.V.R., unnamed as issued; British War and Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaves (Capt. W. H. Williamson.); Jubilee 1935; Efficiency Decoration, G.VI.R., 2nd issue, silver and silver-gilt, reverse officially dated ‘1950’, with top territorial riband bar; together with the related miniature awards for the first four awards, these mounted as worn, very fine and better (5) £700-£900

Welburn Harry Williamson was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery (Special Reserve of Officers) on 7 July 1916, and served during the Great War with 38th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. For his services during the Great War he was twice Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazettes 17 May 1918 and 20 December 1918), and was awarded the Military Cross. Advanced Major in the Territorial Army on 28 August 1939, he relinquished his commission, having reached the age limit, on 6 April 1955, and retained the rank of Major.
