Great War Masonic Million Memorial Fund Jewel, silver (hallmarks for Birmingham 1921), the reverse engraved ‘Bro. T. B. Forwood. No.32’, lacking top rivet to reverse, otherwise very fine £40-50

Talbot Brittain Forwood was born at Childwall, Lancashire, on 13 January 1879, the son of Sir Arthur Bower Forwood, 1st Baronet, a shipowner and a Conservative Member of Parliament, and was educated at Harrow. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant on 10 June 1900 into the Duke of Lancaster’s Own Regiment, and served in South Africa during the Boer War with the 23 (Duke Of Lancaster's) Company, 8 Battalion Imperial Yeomanry (entitled to a five clasp Queen South Africa Medal). He subsequently served during the Great War in the Egyptian theatre of War with the 2nd Battalion Duke of Lancaster’s Own Yeomanry, was wounded, and was Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette 21 May 1917) and awarded the French Croix de Guerre with Palm Leaves (London Gazette 21 May 1917). Additionally awarded a 1914-15 Star trio and the Territorial Decoration, he retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, and died at Cowley Moor, Tiverton, on 26 July 1940.
