Pair: Private R. Peacock, Essex Regiment

Korea 1950-53, 1st issue (22690836 Pte. R. Peacock. Essex.); U.N. Korea 1950-54, unnamed as issued, in named card box of issue, nearly extremely fine, scarce to unit (2) £240-280

R. Peacock attested for the Essex Regiment and served with the advance party of the 1st Battalion in Korea. The Battalion was due to relieve the 1st Royal Fusiliers and the advance party were attached to the Fusiliers immediately prior to the ceasefire on 27 July 1953. This body of 32 Officers and men were therefore the only members of the Essex Regiment to receive the Queen’s Korea Medal named to their parent unit; other men from the Essex Regiment who served on attachment to other Regiments, most notably the Norfolk Regiment, invariably have their medals named to the unit with whom they served on attachment.
