Three: Miss Margaret Cameron-Webb, British Red Cross Society

General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Malaya, G.VI.R. (Miss M. Cameron-Webb.) in named card box of issue; Korea 1950-53, 1st issue (M. Cameron-Webb. B.R.C.S.); U.N. Korea 1950-54, unnamed as issued, both in named card box of issue, extremely fine and a rare combination to a lady (3) £400-500

Margaret Cameron-Webb was born in Uckfield, Sussex, in 1924, the daughter of Brigadier John Cameron-Webb, C.B.E., Royal Signals, late Indian Army, and spent some of her early childhood in India. She served with the British Red Cross Society in Malaya, and subsequently in Korea- a photograph, a copy of which is included with the lot, shows her presenting Private K. B. J. Rooney, 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, with a Returned Services League parcel on Christmas Day 1952 in Kure Hospital, Japan. Returning to the U.K., she married Major John Burkmar, Durham Light Infantry in late 1953.

Note: Korea Medals issued to ladies are extremely rare, and this group is believed to be the only instance of a Korea Medal awarded to a lady appearing for sale at auction in the last twenty years.
