Robert Tye Lightfoot was born in Doncaster, Yorkshire, on 2 June 1926 and served with the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry, and the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. He died in October 1984.
Sold with 14 postcard size photographs which show Lightfoot at various times during his army career wearing each of the three different cap badges; and approximately 100 small snapshot-type photographs of the recipient and his comrades, places, views &c. At least one is marked on the back ‘Mog 1949’, believed to relate to a tour of Mogadishu that was undertaken by the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry at this time.
