James McNeil served with the Highland Light Infantry during the Great War on the Western Front from 11 July 1915. he subsequently transferred to the Labour Corps, and was discharged on 6 March 1919.

John Merry served with the Highland Light Infantry during the Great War.

Sold with the recipient’s card identity tags; cap badge; and a portrait photograph of the recipient.

John Thomson was born in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, on 23 March 1892 and attested for the Highland Light Infantry at Glasgow on 18 September 1914. He served during the Great War on the Western Front from 23 November 1915; was wounded in action on 31 March 1917; and was promoted Corporal on 21 May 1917. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the 3rd Battalion, Highland Light Infantry on 30 January 1918. He was promoted Lieutenant on 30 July 1919, and relinquished his commission with the rank of Lieutenant on 2 December 1920.
