Matthew Brown was born in Dalbeattie, Dumfriesshire, and attested for the Royal Scots at Manchester. He served with the 4th Battalion (Queen’s Edinburgh Rifles) during the Great War in the Gallipoli theatre of War, and was killed in action on 19 June 1915. He has no known grave is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey.

George Douglas was born in Glasgow and attested for the Highland Light Infantry at Hamilton, Lanarkshire. He served as a Sergeant with the 12th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action at the Battle of Loos on 26 September 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, France.
