Andrew Thomas Jones was born in Birmingham, and attested for the Royal Warwickshire Regiment at Warwick in March 1891. He served with the 1st Battalion in the Sudan, January 1897 - October 1898, and having advanced to Corporal transferred to the Reserve. Jones was recalled for service with the 2nd Battalion during the Second Boer War. He was promoted Lance-Sergeant, and served with the Battalion in South Africa, November 1899 - August 1901 (entitled to Q.S.A. with ‘Johannesburg’, ‘Diamond Hill’, ‘Belfast’, ‘Cape Colony’ and ‘Orange Free State’ clasps).
Jones advanced to Sergeant and was discharged, 4 March 1903, having served 12 years with the Colours.
The respective medal rolls (included in lot with copied research) indicate that three replacement medals were issued 23 April 1920.
