Four: Private J. Maslin, Royal Berkshire Regiment

Afghanistan 1878-80, 1 clasp, Kandahar (B/193 Pte. J. Maslin. 66th Foot.); Kabul to Kandahar Star 1880 (B 193 Private Jas: Maslin 66th Foot); Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, 2 clasps, Suakin 1885, Tofrek (B/193. Pte. J. Maslin. 1/Berks: R.); Khedive's Star 1882, the reverse impressed ‘193 J M 1.Bks’, some pitting from stars, therefore nearly very fine but a scarce group (4) £1200-1500

Two Companies only of the 66th Foot, who comprised the garrison at Kelat-I-Ghilzie under Captain McKinnon, were present on the march from Kabul to Kandahar and qualified for the star. Maslin, who had attested for the 66th Foot on 24 September 1875, afterwards transferred to the 1st Battalion and was present in the Egyptian campaign of 1882 and the Suakin operations of 1885, including the battle of Tofrek. He was discharged on 26 November 1887.
