Crimea 1854-56, 1 clasp, Sebastopol, top lugs removed (Richd. Warner, 68th. Regt.) officially impressed naming; New Zealand 1845-66, reverse undated (4450. Pte. R. Warner. 68th. Foot.) engraved naming; Turkish Crimea 1855, Sardinian issue, unnamed as issued, pierced, but with contemporary straight bar suspension; together with the recipient’s Empire Veterans Association Cross, bronze, the centre engraved ‘N.Z. E.V.A.’, contact marks, especially to first, generally very fine (4) £500-700
Richard Warner was born in Farnham, Surrey, and attested for the Grenadier Guards on 7 June 1854. He transferred to 68th Foot (Durham Light Infantry) on 1 April 1856. He served in the Crimea and in New Zealand from 18 January 1864, before being discharged with a Gratuity at Otahuhu, North Island, New Zealand, on 8 March 1866.
