18th (The Royal Irish) Regiment Officer’s Shoulder Belt Plate c. 1830-40, the rectangular gilt back plate with silver and gilt overlays comprising an elongated eight pointed silver star overlaid with a crowned pierced motto circle ‘Virtutis Namurcensis Praeaium’, (the gilt scroll inscribed XVIII is missing), below the star two sprays of shamrocks overlaid with the Sphinx/Egypt all in silver, complete with all four fasteners and part leather liner, all four corners are buckled and about fifty percent only gilt remains on the backplate, the blue enamel backing to the motto appears to be damaged £300-400
