Queen’s Own Royal Glasgow Yeomanry Officer’s 1847 Pattern Helmet, a truly superb example, the German silver skull overlaid with very fine fire gilt fittings, the frontal plate shows the crown over a rococo shield this with a silver star of the Order of the Thistle, thereon in gilt metal the motto of the Order of the Thistle enclosing a gilt metal rampant lion, the shield with sprays of thistle, remaining gilt trim in laurels, oak and acanthus, massive gilt metal rose side ornaments, gilt chin chain with red moroccan backing, ornate thistle leaf pattern plume holder, quilted white silk lining and dark green skiver peak linings, black falling horse hair plume with rose finial, superb overall condition £1600-2200
