The King’s Own Royal Bucks Militia Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1878-81 and Carrying Tin, a good quality example, the blue cloth body complete with all silver plated fittings, the very fine frontal plate of crowned eight pointed star pattern overlaid with a silver beaded cut multi-rayed star this in turn mounted with a circular strap ‘The King’s Own Militia’ in the centre a Lion of England statant on a torse on a domed silver background a gilt scroll below ‘Royal Bucks’, brown leather sweat band and supplier’s details ‘Webb & Bonella, Old Bond St., London’, the plate probably not original to the helmet; together with black japanned metal carrying tin, the helmet with two moth patches and surface moth to the front peak, one other moth hole, rear peak leather trim fractured and the front peak point with fracture otherwise sound condition £300-400
