9th Queen’s Royal Lancers Officer’s Undress or Foul Weather Lance Cap c. 1856-1890, a fine and scarce example of light weight material covered with black patent leather, the frontal peak bound with brass, lion’s mask gilt side ornaments and ribbed chin chain, gilt metal rear hook for the chain, two black composition dummy buttons and a bulbous dummy rosette, buff leather sweat band and crimson silk lining, the chin chain velvet on leather lining more or less detached from the metal, some crazing to the front peak and rear panels, one securing pin for the front peak brass trim lacking otherwise good overall condition £400-600
