7th (The Princess Royal’s) Dragoon Guards Officer’s 1871 Pattern Helmet, the gilt brass skull complete with all gilt fittings, the very fine frontal plate being a multi-rayed silver hobnail cut elongated star overlaid with an oval strap ‘The Princess Royal’s Dragoon Guards’, in the centre on a gilt ground the silver ‘VR’ cypher, correct pattern side ornaments and chin chain, black over white horse hair plume with large rose finial, quilted canvas sweat band and lining, both peaks lined with red skiver, the skull with some loss of gilt, the chin chain devoid of gilt, the peak linings fractured otherwise good overall condition £700-900
