Richard Carberry was born in Trimslee, Whitrant, Waterford, Ireland. He attested for the Army at Waterford in May 1859, and joined the 80th Foot in January 1861 (entitled I.G.S. with ‘Perak’ clasp). Carberry was discharged 20 July 1880.
