The South Africa Medal awarded to Private Thomas Cornish, 24th Foot, who was killed in action at the battle of Isandhlwana on 22 January 1879

South Africa 1877-79, 1 clasp, 1877-8-9 (819. Pte. T. Cornish. 2/24th Foot.) fitted with silver ribbon buckle and attractively mounted on a display card with an original embossed memorial card and two regimental badges, toned, extremely fine £6000-8000

Thomas Cornish enlisted at Monmouth on 24 April 1876, aged 20 years. He served in ‘D’ Company, 2nd Battalion, 24th Foot. His effects were claimed by his mother.
