Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., 3rd issue, small letter reverse (590. Cr. Serjt. Geo. Saunders. Staff) suspension claw slightly loose, minor edge nicks, good very fine £80-120

George Saunders was born in London in 1812 and attested there for the 81st Foot. He served as a Private for 7 years and 4 months; as a Corporal for 2 years and 6 months; as a Sergeant for 6 years and 11 months; and as a Colour Sergeant for 4 years and 4 months. He was discharged at Dublin on 16 April 1852 after 21 years and 147 days’ service, of which 9 years and 2 months were spent overseas. He was subsequently admitted as an Out-Pensioner of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, on 8 June 1852.

Sold with the recipient’s Parchment Certificate of Service; and Parchment Document certifying the recipient as an Out-Pensioner of the Royal Hospital, Chelsea.
