M.I.D. London Gazette 19 October 1914: 69385 Gunner A. R. Baker’s name appears in the list of 17 names under 8th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, of whom Captain D. Reynolds, Drivers J. H. C. Drain and F. Luke were each awarded the Victoria Cross, 2nd Lieutenant E. G. Earl the D.S.O., and Trumpeter S. F. G. Waldron and Sergeant W. C. Bower the D.C.M., all for gallantry at Le Cateau on 26 August 1914.
