Drgn: Gds:); British War and Victory Medals (37882 Pnr. L. E. Stimpson. R.E.) edge bruising and heavy contact marks, nearly very fine (4) £180-220

Leonard Edwin Stimpson was born in St. Pancras, London, in 1879 and attested for the 6th Dragoon Guards at London on 5 December 1898. He served with the Regiment in South Africa from 9 February to 16 August 1900, and again from 11 March 1901 to 15 August 1902, completing the necessary 18 months’ service required for the King’s South Africa Medal. He transferred to the Army Reserve on 27 November 1906, and was discharged on 4 December 1910, after 12 years’ service. He subsequently re-enlisted in the Royal Engineers and served with them during the Great War.
