The Hampshire Regiment Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1902-14 & Named Carrying Tin, a good quality example the blue cloth skull complete with all gilt metal fittings, the fine quality frontal plate of crowned star pattern with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black velvet a gilt Royal Tiger encircled by silver laurel sprays, a scroll below ‘The Hampshire Regiment’, buff leather sweatband with attached crimson lining supplied by ‘L. Silverston, London & F.W. Flight, Winchester’, the frontal plate appears to be original to the helmet, the carrying tin with applied brass plaque ‘F.St.J.Barton, The Hampshire Regt.’, no gilt remains on the spike and quadrant areas and little gilt remains on the chin chain supports, two small moth holes in the rear left area otherwise very sound condition (2) £360-460
