East and West Africa 1887-1900, 1 clasp, 1891-2 (H. Crowe, Gunr. R.M.A., H.M.S. Racer) good very fine £500-600

Harry Crowe was born in Kuratchee, Bombay, India, in July 1866 and enlisted in the Royal Marine Artillery at London on 28 October 1884. Promoted Gunner on 12 July 1885, he was posted to H.M.S. Colossus on 24 June 1886, and served in her until she was paid off on 28 April 1890. After brief postings to H.M.S. Camperdown, April to May 1890, and H.M.S. Racoon, July to August 1890, he was posted to H.M.S. Racer on 24 November 1891, and served in her during the operations in the River Gambia, 29 December 1891 to 5 February 1892. He was discharged on 29 October 1896, after 12 years’ service.
