India General Service 1854-95, 2 clasps, Burma 1887-89, Burma 1889-92 (5686 Pte. J. Bragg 4th. Bn. Rif. Brig.) nearly extremely fine £300-400

John Bragg was born in Birmingham in December 1863 and attested there for the Rifle Brigade on 13 June 1883. Posted initially to the 3rd Battalion, he transferred to the 4th Battalion on 28 December 1883, and immediately sailed to join the Battalion in India. He arrived in Burma with the Battalion on 5 December 1888, and was appointed Bugler. He served with the Battalion during the Third Burmese War from 5 December 188 to 31 March 1889, and then with the Poukhan Column from 16 April to 16 May 1889. Returning to the U.K., he transferred to the Army Reserve on 13 June 1890, and was discharged on 12 June 1895, after 12 years’ service.
