A rare Great War 1917 ‘Salonika’ M.M. group of five awarded to Sergeant F. Pratt, Derbyshire Yeomanry, later Second Lieutenant, 5th Reserve Cavalry Regiment

Military Medal, G.V.R. (75576 A.Sjt: F. Pratt. 1/1 Derby: Yeo: -T.F.); 1914-15 Star (2413 Pte. F. Pratt. Derby. Yeo.); British War and Victory Medals, with M.I.D. oak leaves (2413 Sjt. F. Pratt. Derby. Yeo.); Defence Medal, mounted as worn; together with a Commemorative Medal for the 50th Anniversary of the Creation of the Army of the Orient 1915-1965, bronze, light contact marks, good very fine (5) £1000-1400

Frank Pratt served with the Derbyshire Yeomanry during the Great War in the Salonika Theatre of War, and was Mentioned in Despatches ‘for gallant and distinguished services rendered with the British Salonika Force during the period 25 April to 25 October 1917’ (London Gazette 28 November 1917), as well as being awarded the Military Medal, the recommendation for this dated 1 October 1917. He was subsequently commissioned temporary Second Lieutenant in the 5th Reserve Cavalry Regiment on 13 March 1919.

Sold with the recipient’s Commission Document appointing him a Second Lieutenant in the Land Forces, dated 13 March 1919, housed in a glazed display frame; the recipient’s Mentioned in Despatches Certificate, dated 25 October 1917, housed in a glazed display frame; a bestowal Certificate for the Commemorative Medal for the 50th Anniversary of the Creation of the Army of the Orient, dated 30 June 1966, housed in a glazed display frame; and the following book:
