Ray Holbrook was born in Boissevain, Manitoba, on 27 October 1896, and served with the 1st Depot Battalion, Manitoba Regiment during the Great War from 9 January 1918. He subsequently served with the Home Guard during the Second World War, and died in service on 4 February 1946. He is buried in Mountain View Cemetery, Vancouver, British Columbia.
