Walter Pattenden, 5th Battalion Canadian Infantry, was killed in action at the battle of Mount Sorrel, Ypres, on 2 June 1916, aged 24 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He formerly served in the 53rd Battalion (North Saskatchewan) Canadian Infantry.
