L.S. & G.C. medal awarded in January 1864 with Gratuity of £15.

Paul Jones was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire, and attested at Plymouth Headquarters on 1 March 1843, as a Private with 11th Company, Royal Marines, Plymouth Division. He was aged 19 years 8 months and was a fitter by trade. Later during his career he transferred to the 55th, 27th, and finally, the 3rd Company. He was discharged on 5 May 1865 due to ‘length of service’, having served a total of 22 years 166 days, of which 4 years 288 days were served at sea.
