South Nottinghamshire Yeomanry (Hussars) Officer’s Busby and Named Tin c. 1890-1914, a fine quality brown sable busby complete with red cloth bag this with gold gimp decoration and sewn in gold cord caplines, gold cord boss, correct pattern chin chain on red moroccan with velvet lining, original lining and supplier’s details ‘Hawkes & Co., London’, white over white egret and feather plume with correct pattern gilt metal holder, with its original Hawkes & Co., carrying tin this with brass plaque ‘F.A.Smith, Esq.’ ‘Sth.Nottingham RE. Yeoy.’; complete with white linen busby cover and original cardboard plume holder by Edward Smith, Ebury Street, London, together with an official invitation for Mr. Francis A. Smith to attend a Levee at St. James’s Palace 19th May 1905, slight wear to the sable around the top rim, some surface mothing to the red bag otherwise very good condition (5) £300-400
